The amber she wolf crouched low as the buck began to move, being chased by the rushers. She waited critically for the right moment to lunge out, right behind the buck, then chase and grab hold of him. At least that had been her plan. Suddenly, Nico, the one who had just joined the hunt, ran out to grab the deer by it's haunch. He was followed by Traxx, and Barak soon shot out, though hadn't found a hold. He barked to tell her that it was over, their previous plan. Odeta stood casually, not in calmness but with a seething irritation. Part of her wanted to howl and rip into something, and the other said that it wasn't Nico's fault, for he hadn't known the plan beforehand. The alpha snorted, and decided to take out her anger on the struggling deer. She loped forward, and quickly found an opening right at the base of its neck. She let out a viscous, maybe unnecessary, snarl and lunged, enjoying the feeling of her teeth sinking into flesh. She shook her head back and forth, feeling flesh tear, and felt a pang of satisfaction as blood from the jugular broke lose out of its artery, and into and over Odeta's mouth. The eyes on the great creature rolled into the back of its head, and the venison collapsed, dead. Slowly and triumphantly, the alpha dropped her hold on the deer, her tongue lolling out of her maws as she panted. Slowly, the she wolf sat on her haunches and shot pointed gazes at both Nico and Traxx. She didn't say a word, but raised her eyebrows in irritated question. The blood soaking her muzzle only added to her apparent malice, though she held back her anger once again. She couldn't snap at the pack. I mean, they had been the main part of catching the kill.

Barak watched as Odeta stood and ran into the hunt, then snarled and attacked the deer's throat. When it dropped to the ground, she sat and glared at the two who started the attack. He stepped forward, one ear flattening in a slight show of submission. He knew what he had to do. "It was my mistake, Odeta," he said, shooting a rabbir swift glare at the two younger wolves in warning to keep quiet. "I inched forward at your snort, and Nico must've read it as the signal to attack. Traxx didn't know either and ran after him. I should've stayed where I was." He dipped his head slightly. What he said wasn't totally false. He hadn't told Traxx the plan, so she couldn't have known. She might've overheard him telling Nico, but he couldn't clarify that and therefore couldn't blame her. Nico knew the plan, but the inch very well could've thrown him off. Hence, not totally false. He could only hope Odeta believed him and the other two kept their mouths shut.

Traxx landed awkwardly on her back leg and gave a yelp as she tumbled away from the deer. Getting up was a struggle. When she did finally make it to her feet, Odeta was glaring at her and Nico. Traxx shook her head and held her back leg up. An old injury made worse by the fall. She limped out of the clearing and into the trees. *Why did I do that?* she thought and started limping back to the den.

“Quite,” Zakira responded, laughing now as the chocolate-masked pup toppled over. She threw her mate a mock glare and whipped her tail away from him as he inched it perilously close to the tiny white teeth budding in Nakira’s mouth. She cuffed him lightly over the head. “That’s mine,” she said. “And I’ll thank you not offer it to our puppies as a plaything. Sacrifice your own tail for the good of their amusement.” Halo was awakened by his sister’s movements. He yawned, flashing his own collection of growing baby fangs, and cocked his head as Nakira tumbled to her side, squeaking indignantly. He watched her curiously, then took her tail in his mouth and gave an experimental tug.
Nico grinned at Traxx as she leapt in to help. Barak soon followed, though just kind of hovered around them rather than actively participating. Nico’s impulsive attack had the intended effect. He’d pressed everyone into acting immediately; Odeta sprang out, looking angry, but fastened her fangs in the buck’s throat and finished him off before turning her glare on Nico. The young male had released his hold on the dying buck a little too soon and had received a clip in the side from one of its hooves. It bled a little but was just bruised more than anything. Before he had a chance to say anything, he was warned quiet with another glare form Barak. Caught between two glares, from two higher ranking wolves, Nico did the smart thing and kept his mouth shut. He let Barak bail him out, and just gave a sheepish shrug. “My bad,” he said, lolling his tongue in an endearing grin.

Nomed laughed as she saved her own tail, then laughed harder as she cuffed him like a mother to her pup. He licked her face lovingly, chuckling deep in his throat. "No thanks, love," he purred in a rumble, closing his eyes contently with a smile on his muzzle. "My tail is my best feature. Didn't you know??" He broke down in laughter again. Nakira yelped and opened her green eyes wide as she snapped her head around to look towards her tail. Her blurry vision focused in on Halo's face, and his teeth gripping her tail, and she gave a little puppy growl before curling around and nipping at Halo's face grumpily, this time with her tail tucked under her little belly.

The amber she wolf watched as Barak as he explained the situation. The she wolf narrowed her eyes for a moment, watching, then flicked her tail to sit around her paws. Her eyes went towards the forest for a moment, where Traxx had disappeared to, and the she wolf's pumpkin colored eyes flashed with concern before they fell on Nico, who insisted on being casual about the whole situation. The she wolf got angered, as her temper was very quick, but it didn't show, and she made sure not to let it stay for long. It was just a casual situation, anyway, with the buck dead and all. The alpha was just beginning to learn to ways of being a non strict leader, when before she had to be a very strict one. A flash of confusion crossed her face, but was gone in the blink of an eye. Odeta nodded once, then threw her head back and let out a soft howl, one that told the rest of the pack of the successful hunt. All were welcome to the kill. Unlike normal alpha behavior, which would be to take the first share, Odeta sat back and motioned for the others to first get their own shares, before her.

The golden she wolf managed to let out a very small howl, but a clear one, a howl for help for a friendly wolf, before just being too exhausted to move anymore, and just flopped onto the ground.
As Traxx left, with her injured leg Angel dipped her head, nudged Tanek to come with her, and raced after the red and black she wolf. She stopped outside the shes den, and poked her head inside. 'Excuse me, Miss Traxx?' she asked. 'Are you ok? Do you want some herbs for your leg?'

Traxx looked back and shook her head, "No thank you Angel. It is an old injury. I broke the leg a while ago and it just never healed right. I shouldn't have jumped on the deer, but I didn't want Nico to get hurt." she said and smiled, tail wagging.
Sol-Leks and Kavik came forward and dipped their muzzle at Odeta before each ripping a chunk of meat off. They went and laid down not too far from the kill and began to eat.
Shadow walked up to Kali, "Ready when you are." he said and waited for Kali before going to the deer.

Kali's tail wagged furiously as the deer was taken down, and she watched as the blood seeped into the snow. Kali looked at her mate lovingly, her eyes shining happily. The small she wolf nudged Shadow's side with her nose, then silently came to the kill. She quickly ripped off a large chunk, for her hunger had grown since carrying young ones, and dragged it back to where her mate stood. She quickly gulped down a few bites before looking at Shadow Mask expectantly.

Angel opened her mouth to speak when the howl reached her ears. It was a cry for help from a friendly, yet badly wounded she wolf. She glanced back in the direction it came from, and flicked her ears. 'Did you hear that?' she asked Traxx. 'It sounded like a plea for help'

(Wow I haven't been on in forever...)
Tanek followed Angel as she went after Traxx. When he heard the howl he nudged her shoulder. "Come on then." He said and ran in the direction of the howl.

Angel sighed as Tanek shot off. 'Back soon' she said to Traxx, and bolted after him.
Upon hearing thundering paws approaching her, the golden she closed her eyes tight, awaiting the visious attack to come.
Angel stopped, looking around. She had lost Tanek. Taking to the skies, she soared above until she landed beside Tanek again, running at exact pace with him.
The golden she opened her eyes sightly as the two scents grew stronger, her hopes rising as one of those was familar. 'Angel?' she called out.

“Well, imagine it skinned naked and furless by my teeth and just try to suggest my tail is the puppies’ plaything again,” Zakira threatened. She wasn’t really, truly angry though. On the contrary, she was in a very content, relaxed mood, as the lay of her ears attested. She was merely bantering with Nomed for the sake of the argument itself. Halo reared back in astonishment as Nakira growled and nipped at his face, clearly not the reaction he’d expected. Drawing his brows together in a frown, the little black pup gave a sharp, indignant yap and jumped on her. Zakira’s eyes flicked to the tussling puppies, watching them. A part of her wondered if she ought to break it up, scold them for fighting with each other. It was probably the right thing to do, but she stopped herself. She wanted Halo and Nakira to learn how to defend themselves; they never would if she came to their rescue every time. She would step in only if it started getting too rough, she decided. Otherwise, she would let them scrap it out.
Nico waited to see if there was anything Odeta had to say to him, his tongue still lolling in a hangdog grin. When she simply nodded and howled to alert the rest of the pack to the prey they’d taken down, inviting them to come and eat, he figured he was forgiven. His grin broadened. “Right, well, nice hunting with you all,” he said, going to the buck and choosing a cut of venison to take home to Skye. “Loads of fun. Have to do it again sometime.” The lanky tan male glanced up at the rest of the hunters, winked and laughed, then loped off in the direction of his den.
((I realize we're trying to wrap things up here, but until we have the topic up in the guild...))
