Callyn lifted her nose to get a clear sense of the scent Tempest was asking about. "Hmm," she said. "That one's fox, sweetie," she answered. "And...I think I'd recognize my own son when I smelled him. I believe that's Nico, Skye, and the boys, too." She cocked her head, puzzling this out. "What in the world are they doing hunting fox?" she wondered. "It's not that they're especially dangerous or anything...just very tricky and not very good eating."
Brigan glanced at Sol-Leks, a quizzical look in his brown eyes. She wore a harness? That was odd. Though now that he thought about it, he did remember hearing someone mention Sol-Leks had had a run-in with humans at some point in her life. Many wolves did, Brigan himself included. He supposed the only thing that surprised him was that she still wore it.
Joshua had been immediately curious about Kavik's discovery and waited intently for Sol-Leks to explain. The fawn-colored pup's ears pricked at the new word. "Harness?" she repeated. "What's a...'harness'?"
Zakira threw back her head and laughed lightly. "Do you think I would let any of those poor, foolish males just 'have' me? What few ever tried didn't live long enough to warn the others of the futileness of it." She smiled at her mate and stepped off him. "I was yours from the day I tried to kill you for your impertinence and realized I couldn't. No other male had ever bested me before. You won me and my heart, fair and square." She tilted her head slightly, considering the words that had just left her mouth so easily. Not two weeks ago, she wouldn't have been caught dead saying something like that, to anyone. Reminding herself of the fact unsettled her; she changed the subject. "Come now, are you sure you're not hungry?" she asked again. "Just because I can't eat just now doesn't mean you have to join me in my fast."
(Lucky and I aren't going to end up joining the Brotherhood, Hurri. We didn't like how Lea is starting everything over completely. We decided to start our own guild, though we're going to continue to play our former Hood charries here on Proboards.)

Sol-Leks smiled and taking a breath, began. "Well a harness is what a sled-dog wears." she said and realizing that neither of the pups would know what that was continued. "A sled-dog is a dog or wolf that has work with humans. I was taken to live with them when I was very young. And, no, they are not very nice. They put this harness on me and made me pull a large wooden object behind me." she said and looked at Brigan, a proud look in her eyes. Looking back at the pups she continued, "I-I, I was proud of what I did when I lived there. I didn't like the humans but I was happy because I was a leader." she said and laid down.

Shadow limped off in no particular direction, looking for a new den site.

Kali smiled and trotted after him, lending support if he needd it. She rubbed her cheek against Shadow's and he wagged her tail happily.

Shadow stopped as they came across a tangled old tree root. From the outside it looked like nothing, but after sticking his head inside, he started to wag his tail. He pulled his head out and looked at Kali, "There are two large rooms in there. You should check it out more and if you like it, I will widen the opening slightly." he said.

Traxx was getting bored staying home and decided to go down to the stream. She hadn't gone out in a while due to the porcupine incident and her markings had lost their smell. She tried her hardest to follow them but after a while she was just walking in circles. Clueless as to where she was, she continued, until she was good and lost. She eventually stopped as she was panting hard. Sitting down for a moment to catch her breath, she wondered why she hadn't come to the stream yet. She soon got back up and continued on her way, finding a new scent and following it. She wondered now what that scent could be. The closer she got the more something was telling her to turn tail and run, but her curiosity got the better of her again. Soon enough there was a roar and Traxx stopped dead in her tracks. Before her was the owner of the scent she had smelled. It was a bear and she knew she should run. She wasn't sure which way to run and before she could make a decision, she felt a large something hit her. The only thing she remembered was the feeling of flying and then hearing herself yelp. The bear had thrown her into a tree, a good distance away. She hit the tree with a thump and went limp, she had no intention of fighting this animal. The bear came up to her and picked her up in his teeth and gave her w good shake. She began yelping and turned, grabbing a hold of it face. She tore into the bears eyes and muzzle, doing whatever she could to get out of it mouth. It quickly dropped her and took off running. Traxx laid where the bear had dropped her for a while. It seemed like hours before she could get to her paws and struggling to her paws she tried to find her way home. She walked slowly, limping with every step. She was proud of herself though, for fighting off the bear. She was on the other side of the territory and eventually laid down, defeated. She whined to herself and begun to clean her wounds. Most where just flesh wounds and would heal fine, but her shoulder was ripped right open and the bone was showing through. She managed to escape with no broken bone though, which was a good thing.

(yeahh, I understand that. =S I probably wouldn't join the Hood again cuz of the restart if Blue Boo wasn't joining again and avoiding this. =/ ehh, I can stay here, join the Hood in the other, and stick with Alphas on the third until *a child who shall not be named* peev's me off enough to get me to leave. =3) Nomed chuckled at the words. Coming from her mouth, it did make him seem paranoid. He never had any doubt of her love for him; and she was more than capable of killing anything that came to close without her consent. He flashed a bashful smile and managed a shrug before standing and shaking out his coat lightly. "If it makes you feel better, love," he purred in her ear. "I felt the exact same way from the moment you tore a chunk from my shoulder and I couldn't do anything more than shake you off." He gave a soft laugh and licked her ears before continuing. "And I could use a squirrel to get my mind off the fact that a she-wolf, albeit a pregnant one, but a she-wolf nonetheless just tackled me to the ground with barely a problem." He chuckled again and nosed her face gently before trotting off slowly. "I moving to fast for you??" he asked over his shoulder, laughing the whole way.

(Haha. If that happens, and you're left guildless on an account, you're welcome to join mine and Lucky's Just message one of us for an invite.) Zakira smiled. Nomed's words actually had made her feel better. They planted a seed of warmth in her core than soon spread throughout her entire body and chased away any lingering uneasiness. They'd been meant for each other from the very beginning. She laughed as he admitted he could do with a squirrel after all, and gave him a shove as he trotted off. "Your manly pride had better learn to scoot over and make room for me," she grinned. "Or else it's going to keep getting knocked down." She trotted after him, lengthening her stride till she caught up, then slowed enough to keep pace beside him, shooting her mate a dry look. I'm not that pregnant yet, the look said plainly. So quit coddling me.Brigan held Sol-Leks' eyes as she glanced over at him, as if daring him to make some kind of comment, then shrugged and turned away. Honestly, it was none of his business. He would judge no one for their past, not when his was what it was. Joshua looked rather more confused by the explanation than she was by the word itself. She knew humans, if only from the stories her father sometimes told her. And she knew dogs. Her grandpa was a dog. But harnesses and sleds and the entire concept of working for the humans escaped her. "Big wooden things?" she asked blankly. "Like trees? Why did you have to pull trees? And if you were the leader, then why did you work for the humans?"

Murtagh padded out of the woods and looked toward Raiya, wondering what next. He would probably have to make that descision for himself. He leapt in front of her, crouching down and tackling her to the ground, pinning her. "Gotcha!" He smirked.
Tempest looked up curiously at Callyn, reconizing that the scent was a fox and nodding. Yes, that seemed right... She nodded slowly and pawed at the ground at Callyn's next comment about Nico and Skye with Comet and Cobalt going after the fox. "Let's go get em." She suggested with a grin. "Well, maybe after they get the fox..." She trailed off, tail swaying. "Well, lets stay out of their way. We can go hunt then we can go back to their den. Hopefully they'll be done by that time." She said, standing up straight. She was hald the size of Callyn now -growing up fast. She smiled, and looked toward Callyn again. "Where shall we hunt then?"

(She meant the look more like proud that she could tell her story without feeling guilty about her life.) Sol-Leks looked at Joshua and back at Brigan, not sure how to explain it. "It is kind of like a hollowed out tree, yes. I had to work for them because they would hurt me if I didn't." she finished.

Raiya gasped in surprise. "Hey!" She smiled as her tail wagged. She tried to squirm enough so that she could slip away from him. When that didn't work she tried to shove him off of her with no sucess.

(haha will do, thanks ) Nomed laughed hard, having to stop for a stride to catch his breath. "I'll have you know, my 'manly pride' is not the problem here," he complained. "Its you taking a stab at something else called 'self-confidence'. While I still have some, why don't you crush that too befoe it becomes this 'manly pride' of which you speak??" He nipped her ruff lightly to tell her he was joking, then flattened one ear in half embarasent, half mocking humor when she gave a him a drole look. He flashed a wolfy grin and nipped at her nose lightly before flicking his ears forward at a sound. He held up his tail, signaling for her to stop. His ears flicked around, searching for the source, before he lunged up into a tree. A squealin squeak pierced the quiet, and the large male landed lightly on all fours beside her once more. In his jaws was a small squirrel, which he deposited on the ground before her. "You sure you're not hungry??" he inquired.

Kali smiled and pushed past Shadow, into the smallish cave she laid down and looked around her, liking what she saw. The tip of her tail wiggled and she looked up at Shadow, joy in her eyes.

Shadow was over-joyed that his mate liked the den and set to work widening the opening. When he was done he stepped inside and curl up next to her. He was soon fast asleep and snoring.

Kali nibbled on the tip of Shadow's ear lovingly before laying her head down next to his and falling asleep as well.

A tiny smile flitted around Zakira's muzzle as she kept pace beside her mate, listening to him laugh. She liked Nomed's laugh. It was one of her favorite things about him. He laughed so freely, uncaring of who heard. But when he stopped to catch his breath and reply, it was her turn to laugh. "If your self-confidence was in any danger of being crushed by me, you wouldn't be worth my time," she grinned. She nipped playfully back at him, then froze as he held up his tail, ears flicking to pinpoint the direction of the sound he'd heard. Suddenly, he surprised her by leaping straight up into the tree above them. She heard the shriek of a dying squirrel, then Nomed dropped back down beside her, the rodent dangling from his jaws. "You will never cease to amaze me," she muttered, shaking her head as he bent to set his kill on the ground. "No, I'm not hungry. You go ahead." And she sat back, trying not to think about how odd it felt to see her mate disregarding the ritual drinking of the squirrel's blood. In her pack in the mountains, Nomed would likely have just earned himself four deep gashes in his stomach for failing to pay proper respect to his prey's sacrifice. And it would have fallen to Zakira to dole out that punishment.
Joshua tried to imagine that: a team of wolves and dogs, wearing odd, criss-crossing things over their backs, pulling trees around behind them. It seemed rather silly and pointless to her. Why would you want to move the trees anyway? The humans sounded like a pretty backwards bunch. "Well, that's mean," she commented, wrinkling her nose. "They shouldn't make you work, if you were the leader." This seemed obvious to her. The pack worked, and the leader led. That's how it was supposed to go. Brigan, listening without interruption a few feet away, suppressed a smile at his daughter's innocent remark.
Callyn waited patiently while Tempest changed her mind three times about what she wanted to do, then ended up not changing the original plan at all. "Probably be a good idea to go in the opposite direction they went, so we don't run into them or mess up their hunt," she replied. She took the lead this time, wanting to make sure they got far enough away that both hunts go on uninterrupted. She stopped when the fresh scent of a small herd of deer crossed her nose. It had passed by this way not too long ago. Good, she thought, pleased. This will give Tempest the opportunity to practice her tracking skills as well. "Okay, Tempest," she instructed. "Why don't we start here? Tell me what you smell. Extra credit if you already know where I'm going with this," she added with a smile.

Murtagh grinned with satisfaction as Raiya attemped getting up, but failed. He gently bumped his muzzle to hers before leaping off of her and sitting down, acting innocent now, but a tiny smile on his face. "What now princess?"
Tempest followed Callyn silently, making each of her steps count- be as quietly as possible. Callyn paused now, asking her what she scented. Tempest obeyed and lifted her nose to the air, at first hesitant on what it was, but quickly recovering. "Deer!" She said in an excited, but hushed voice. "It's a deer, just like I wanted." She added and smiled, pawing at the ground anxiously.
(Where are Comet, Cobalt, Nico and Skye?? I haven't posted Comet in a while. Are you waiting on me?)

Traxx continued to clean her wounds as she laid by the packs border. She had no intention of heading home as she was too sore to walk right now.

Raiya got up and shook out her fur. She momentarily glared at him then answered, "Tag." She bumped her nose with his, copying what he had done before streaking away. "Your it!" She called over her shoulder.
