Nomed noticed her standing taller and raised an eyebrow. He was sorely tempted to bring his front paws together and lift himself to his full height, but opted against it and instead regarded her curiously, not that she would be able to tell. His eyes were totally expressionless, and he merely watched her when she spoke. He waited for a few moments before finally opening his muzzle again. "I might be Nomed, and this might be my mate, Zakira," he replied matter-of-factly, showing her his appreciation-or lack thereof-of her sassy, unnecessary words.

The amber female nodded respectfully and observed the two for a moment before speaking. "I'm glad we had a chance to meet. Have you been around here long?" She questioned.

Nomed surreptitiously glanced at Zakira, unsure of how to answer. Yes, they had been, but why should they tell a strange she-wolf that?? Maybe Zakira and her intense paranoia was rubbing off of him, but he found the female slightly . . . invasive of their private life. He had just learned her name, albeit snottily, and didn't know how better to respond than the way he waw now. His eyes flicked back to the female Odeta fully; it would've been hard to notice that he had been watching his mate for a cue. "One could say that," he answered with a shrug. "One might also say not all." He shrugged again, then asked her the same question. "And you?? How long have you been in these parts??"

Odeta eyed the male warily. She didn't know what to think of him yet. He seemed unhappy that she was here and wasn't willing to share any common information. He seemed to be acting a little suspicious. The female flicked her tail, a little annoyed at the evasive creature. "I have been here for a small amount of time." She said, biting her tongue so she wouldn't say anything to the male that she would regret.

Murtagh returned from the forest wtih a large lump of prey in his mouth. A large hare and a stray little field mouse that had just coincidentally scurried across his path. He padded toward his den and found Raiya sitting just outside of it. He smiled at her and dropped the two animals at her feet to lick her cheek affectionetly, then nuzzle her. "Hello, love." He murmered. "Sleep well? I brought you something to eat." He nudged the hare toward her, then lay down to chow down on the little field mouse's small bones, crunching them literally in half.

"Yum." Raiya reponded. She bit into the hare. Once she had finished, she rolled over and looked at the sky. It was so big to her. She felt like an ant.

Nomed held back a smirk at her apparent grump over his vague comments. It was what he did best : push wolves to their breaking point to see how much they really wanted to know, or cared to know. Or, his preferred method, how long it took for them to crack and snarl at him. He liked being growled at; it brought back the good old days from before, when he was restless rogue the ladies loved and the males hated. When one pushes a wolf, one sees the true nature of the creature. How they react under pressure, how they react to things they cannot control. It shows the best, or worst, in a wolf and that's what he really cared about. "Well, if you've been here a while, I'm sure you know plenty of wolves," he said, feigning interest. "Any chance you've met the good ones who live around here?? Or did you just meet the saps??"

Zakira was more than content to let Nomed do the talking while she scrutinized the amber she-wolf, deciding whether or not she liked her. The results of her ultimate decision could have a large impact on the other female's life...quite literally. She caught Nomed's uncertain glance, when Odeta asked how long they'd been in the area, and frowned slightly. She approved of her mate's answer -what business was it of Odeta's anyway? And she was 'glad they'd had a chance to meet'? It sounded like Zakira and Nomed's reputation had gone ahead of them, but why Odeta had made it a point to meet them personally? Good question. Why so, indeed? A tiny smirk flickered over her lips at Nomed's subtly barbed comments. He had a talent for getting under wolves' skins. She regarded Odeta with interest as the amber female's hackles rose a bit more with every word that left his mouth. While it irritated the heck out of her when Nomed did it to her, Zakira found it fascinating to watch him at work on someone else.

Odeta burst out laughing and sat back, watching the two. She knew the male's plan, what he was trying to do. She had lived with an entire pack of just males for several years. In fact, she had been dominate over them and they didn't dare to try and cross her. She kept a small smile on her face."What kinda question is that? I really don't care about the 'good' wolves compared to the 'saps' as you call them." She said and flicked her tail. She was having fun talking to this male, amused at watching his ways. She had seen it all before.

Nomed felt nothing, not surprise at her knowledge of his plan, nor dismay or disappointment that she didn't fall for it. Deep down, he assumed she wouldn't fall for it, based on the cold, harsh vibe he got from her. He snorted boredly and sat, lowering his head to her level and making the muscles through his shoulders bulge. He gazed at her cooly, snorting at her. "You think you got it, don't you, sweetheart??" he purred roughly, snottily, sarcastically. "You are so sure of yourself now, so cocky now, you think that you understand this whole thing. Let me tell you, sweetie." He leaned forward menacingly, now-near black eyes flashing sharply as the chain around his neck glinted. "You don't scare me, and I relish everything you will try to pull to make me seem weak. I am a demon; my name is demon backwards. I have dealt with fiercer pups than you." He leaned even closer. "So be ware of crossing me." He sat back up straight, eyes hard as steel. He allowed a small smirk to flit across his face as he watched her. His eyes fluttered half shut as he watched her calmly. "Now, you were saying??" he asked calmly, all signs of his former fury gone.

Zakira was vaguely disappointed by the amber she-wolf's reaction and it showed in the way the interest died from her grey eyes, leaving only flat boredom. She watched coldly, contemptuously, as Odeta laughed, thinking only how naive the other female was to think that Nomed was just another male playing silly games. She let her mate go demon-wolf on the amber she', then calmly stood, brushing against his shoulder. "Come, Nomed, she's not worth our time." Unfortunately, she added with a silent sigh. For a moment there, I almost thought she might be.

Nomed glanced at Zakira, now standing, and his gaze warmed and softened towards her. He brushed his muzzle across the top of her head, watching Odeta from the corner of his eye. He pulled back to face her as he stood, eyes sharp once more. "If you have something to say that won't bother me or my mate, stop by and tell us," he said calmly, voice low. "If not . . . Stay away." With that, he nosed Zakira once more, towards the forest away from their den. He wasn't going to tell the she-wolf where his den was, nor was he going to lead her there. If she wanted to know, she would have to search for it herself. He padded into the comfort of the shadows and watched the brown wolf warily. He glanced at Zakira and sighed heavily. "I don't think I like her," he muttered.

Zakira acknowledged Nomed's light nudge away from their den with a flick of her tail. Yes, she wasn't stupid. Obviously, if they'd decided they didn't like or trust this wolf, she wasn't going to let her know where they lived. Especially since, in a few short weeks, it would also be home to a new litter of helpless puppies. She walked at Nomed's side, feeling the shadows envelope them. At her mate's sigh, she turned to him. "Mmm, no, I don't either," she replied. "Far too sure of herself. She underestimates us, thinking she knows all there is to know. It only shows how much she doesn't. It isn't a trait I particularly admire."

Nomed nodded, agreeing. He too felt she was far too sure of herself than she should have been. He didn't care about her past, or what may have happened in her last pack, but she was too cocky for her own good. He resolved to break that confidence, somehow. Well, maybe not break it entirely. He did know he was going to have to fix her attitude, though. "Maybe a little shadow walking will change her mind," he mused half to himself, unknowingly aloud. He shrugged. "I don't like her sassiness, that's for sure."

Zakira flicked one black ear, a smile flickering over her lips as Nomed mused aloud. It wasn't really her style to go around deliberately shaking wolves up; her only problem was when they got in her way. But she wouldn't stop Nomed from having his fun. And as far as the amber she' was concerned, he had her blessing. She gave a little laugh. "If anyone can change her mind, it would be you, Nomed."

(ah I am sad that the two did not like her.)
Odeta stayed silent, kept her face calm and blank as the male talked to her. This was interesting to her. She wondered what his true intentions were, and why he enjoyed undermining the confidence of others. She did not enjoy the female's comment however and watched them as they walked away quietly. She didn't care where their den was, or where they were heading now. It was quiet obvious that they did not favor her. But she didn't quiet give up on them yet. She didn't know why the male had been so.... so.... (you know, the way he is) from the start. The female stood and trotted away, into the brush, feeling suddenly alone.

(Aw, don't take it personal; Nomed's a rear butt hole 99% of the time and doesn't like wolves as a whole really, and Zakira has a reason to her insanity. He could warm up to her, but he hates cocky, sure-of-themself wolves, partly because he doesn't feel those emotions about himself and hate that others can. Loser. X) ) Nomed smirked wryly at her. "I'd hope so," he muttered. "She just seemed so . . . arrogant, you know?? Right from the get-go, she gave me sass, even though she knew I could take her skinny brown tail down." He flattened his ears into his skull. "I wanted to smack that grin off her face the moment I laid eyes on it." He shuddered, then muttered a few other things about her overconfident nature, many of which were not particularly nice, nor should be reiterated for the common ear (eye, whateves).

(Aww, don't take it too personally. They're a pretty unpredictable pair. Even I couldn't have told you beforehand whether or not Zakira would have taken to Odeta Ha, they didn't like my Callyn either, even though I didn't plan it to go that way.)

Zakira's head tilted slightly as she mulled over that remark. "No, that's just it, I think," she told him. "I don't think she did know what you were capable of. For whatever reason, she believed she could hold her own against you, which means she was just hugely mistaken. If she was aware of what you could do, then she was a fool. Better to be mistaken than a fool, though it's a deadly mistake to make." She stopped and raised an eyebrow as her mate lapsed into muttered curses and insults, watching him in amusement. "Tell me you used to curse and swear at me under your breath like this when you walked away from our early encounters," she said, only half teasing, and wondering if she ought to feel jealous. She'd never seen Nomed so affected by another's wolf's comments, especially when they were unintended to rile him. Surely, that yellow female wasn't important enough for that? He was really in a temper. "Nomed?" she prodded.
