Nomed snorted viciously. "If she knew and decided to allow me to get to this, I should've killed her on the spot," he growled lowly, eyes narrowed and downcast. His head was low and he took a predatory walk. At her next words, he flinched and glanced at her. He was getting a little carried away, wasn't he?? "If it makes you feel better, I did use to mutter like this about your own issues," he said with a wry smile. "You were a pain in my side, partly because I couldn't bring myself to hurt you, ever. Unlike most others." He shot a meaningful glance back the way they had left Odeta, then sighed again. "I just . . . The way she held herself, the way she acted superior, she reminded me of-" He stopped abruptly, both speaking and walking, as his eyes darkened once more. He shook his head sharply and growled at himself. "Its nothing." (Aaaandd, the truth comes out! Nomed hates confidence 1) as I already stated, he has next to none but 2) Huckel always oozed confidence from his butt, which is how his pups figured they couldn't beat him [ever, yet look what happened] and therefore obeyed his every command. Duh dun da dunn!)

Zakira was slightly mollified by Nomed's assurance that he did used to mutter and swear at her, even pleased by it. He'd always seemed so superior himself, she'd never been able to tell if she was irritating him at all, or just amusing him. Her eyes flickered keenly at his cut-off sentence. Judging by his sudden lapse into dark silence, she thought she knew whose name he'd been about to say. No matter how angry he got at anyone, there was only one wolf who made him react that way. She wondered what he'd say if she told him that he had that same superior air -inherited most likely from his father. After gauging his current mood, she decided in a moment of rare goodwill to spare him the knowledge. For now, at least. "You wouldn't kill Odeta," she said instead, calmly. "You don't kill females, remember?" And now her voice was laced with a lightly teasing tone, a casual attempt to draw him out of his black mood.

Nomed glanced at her, amused by her words. He knew she was trying to make him happier, and realized he'd never gone on like this before in front of her. He flicked one ear, then nosed her gently. "I don't, you're right," he admitted after a while. "I do like to torture them, though. Depending on the wolf, whether or not it'd be truly horrible or just barely bearable." He sighed and pouted. "That's a bummer. I was looking forward to a good fight. No one ever gets into bloodbaths anymore." Inwardly, he winced at his words and jokes. He knew they were horrible things to say, but he too was trying to pull himself out of this strange funk he had gotten himself into and had no other way than sick humor and cruel jokes. It was all he ever used to try and fix himself, and he hated that about him. But, it was what got him through the hard times before and he figured it wouldn't fail now.

Odeta trotted around for a bit, but was bored and completely occupied by her own thoughts. She was so out of it that she didn't notice the drop off that sat above a small creek. She walked forward, but her paw hit air. She scrambled, but it was too late. She was already beginning to tumble through the air, off the high bank, and into the water below. When she landed, he coat became instantly soaked and her back hit the rocky bottom roughly. She pulled herself back up to the surface and sighed. She sat, right in the middle of the small creek, and watched as the little particals of leaves and twigs wash by her.

Zakira smiled as Nomed nosed her, feeling that she'd succeeded in luring him into a better frame of mind, then frowned in the next minute. Torture? She pulled back, strong disapproval emanating from her in waves. Killing was one thing; Torture was something completely different. Even in her mountain pack, pain was never prolonged or inflicted simply for fun. They were harsh, yes, but not unjust. Every punishment was warranted, even for the small offenses. "Torture???" she repeated. "I was raised to feel no emotion while doing what I had to, Nomed, not to enjoy it. If you want a fight, I will fight you. If you want to kill something, we will go find something to kill. But pain is not something to revel in."

Nomed shrugged lazily, seeming to ignore her words. "Yeah, well, it made me feel better about the lot I had been handed as a pup, alright??" he muttered, ears flat. "Seeing another wolf suffer, though it wasn't half as much, made me feel better about myself. Plus, it was rarely a 'pain' torture." He allowed his bad attitude to slip enough to flash her a quick, seductive wink. "There is a reason, besides my intense ways of wording, that you chose me. You like the way I look, at least somewhat." He smirked slightly. "There's nothing that tortures a she-wolf more than to watch a male that you can't have strut around no more than two feet from you on a daily basis." He chuckled. "You she-wolves are weird."

Zakira knew her mate well enough to know when he was bluffing to safe face. His initial defensive retort tipped her off to his discomfort; he hadn't expected her to react the way she had. Though why, she didn't know. Did he honestly think she'd applaud him for torturing somebody?? She refused to be baited by his wink, nor by his change of topic. "That wasn't what you were talking about and you know it," she growled lowly.

(16 days. It took my SIXTEEN DAYS to reply. Why didn't someone slap me with a fish, or a noodle, or message me, or something. If I don't reply, the best strategy is to bug me until I do. I don't mind anyone spamming my inbox if it takes me HALF A MONTH to reply. Ugh. I would say sorry but sorry isn't good enough. I need to bake you two a cake or something.) Skye laughed softly, giving his cheek a quick lick. “It really was a good bush, I don’t think it was evil.” She said quietly, trying to laugh. “Oh, I suppose you’re right. Fish do have to fly, then, don’t they? Does that mean I can fly?” She asked, turning her head to look at him, feeling half upside-down, and rather disoriented. “Maybe we should test it out sometime. Maybe you can fly too, you never know. Have you ever tried?” She asked, mostly a rhetorical question, however knowing Nico there might be an answer to that question of a story when he had tried. She grinned to herself. (Nope, don’t mind at all, Luck Hope you don’t mind my slowness in replying. Half. A. Month. I will not forgive myself, everrrr….) Cobalt rolled over, mumbling something unintelligible. He snorted and sat upright, acting awake, although his eyes were still half closed. “Huh, hmm, what?” He asked dreamily, trying to shake his head, as all he saw was a black blurry thing. Then when the world stopped spinning he realized it was Tempest, and he was sitting face to face with her, looking straight at her. His eyes shot open and he fell backwards, uttering something like a combination between a yell and a grunt. He lay on the ground looking up at her, somewhat confused. “Well, good morning…?” He asked, shaking his head again, and still trying to keep his eyes open.

Nomed bit back a growl and instead flattened his ears tighter. "Its wasn't what I wasn't talking abour, either," was all he muttered as he continued on in a grumpy silence. A normal male might beg for forgiveness after their mate's reaction like that, but he wasn't normal. He may cringe from her, yes, but only because he had felt her bite and it was much worse than her bark. Even thinking about it made his shoulder ache; the way she had shredded the flesh and some muscle as calmly as a wolf would kill its meal had been startling, to say the least. There was no remorse she had shown then, or shown since he didn't believe, from that wond dispite the fact that he bothered him the rest of the week, outstanding pain tolerance or not. If he was the wolf to beg for forgiveness, he wouldn't be with the beauty of a wolf beside him because he knew he would receive nothing; and if he weren't the kind to cringe when she snarled at him, he'd be a dead wolf by now. Zakira was a demon in a stunning body, and nothing about her would ever even whisper "gentle". He figured the word itself was too scared of the gray-eyed she-wolf. However, he was supposed to be mad at her, at least half as mad as she was to him, and so snorted sharply as he slowed to a meandering walk. He lifted his head from its position as level with his body and flicked his ears up and around as he scented the air. "I'll go look for something to eat," he muttered gruffly. "Meet me at the den." Without another word or waiting for a response , he trotted off in search of food. At least for a few moments. He needed to cool down, and her as well. What's more, he obviously needed to feed his pregnant mate; to not was too horrible to imagine. She was putting up with him enough to carry his pups, and that meant something huge to him. When he had mentioned torturing other wolves with his body, he hadn't been entirely kidding. He had been a player before, he would grudgingly admit, but only because he needed to feel for a moment someone cared. When he left Harek . . . He felt empty inside. Cold. Lost. She was his last family, but he couldn't look at her without remembering the look of horror and shock that was on her beautiful face as she stared at her siblings, her father, and a bloody-pawed pup without a scratch on him. She had looked at him like he was a monster, even though he was the one who had taken care of the real monster amongst them. Wanting to feel the satisfying crunch of bone, the black wolf quickened his pace and heightened his concentration. He scented a goose off to the far right, but he wasn't in the mood for plucking his meal. Plus, a long thin neck didn't have the appropriate snap he was searching for. Loping now, he located a small deer and froze, not even allowing his chain to sway back and forth. Stalking forward slowly, his dark coat blended in with the shadows themselves, his eyes nearly closed to shield them from view of the meal before him. When he felt he was close enough, he lunged, digging his nails into the deer's shoulder and driving his teeth into the fleshy part of the animal's neck. As the tiny mammal struggled, Nomed adjusted himself enough to finally snap his jaws around the neck. He went down with it as its legs crumpled underneath from the lack of strength. When he retracted his muzzle and stepped off his prey, he almkst didn't realize he was lapping at the blood gushing from the hole in its neck. He continued for a few more seconds before the blood started making his stomach roll, and stopped. He gripped the deer tightly in his jaws before beginnjng to drag it towards his and Zakira's den. (Couple a things. Uno, this post may seem sappy, but its 12:38 AM here so I'm running low on energy and decided I wanted to expand on my wonderful, stunning, sexy Nomed and his loser, BA, sucky attitude and character. Hooray. Deux, should I make Harek, or leave her in the shadows??)

Nico looked doubtful. He was still convinced the bush had been out to get him. It was a sly, sneaky bush. Maybe it had his sweet, trusting Skye fooled, but not him. He was on to that bush. He could see right past its innocent-looking branches. But if Skye wanted to believe it was a nice bush, he would stop insisting it was evil and let her think so. Even if he knew the truth. “Of course you can fly,” Nico replied matter-of-factly, like there had ever been any question about it. A mischievous grin split his muzzle in two. “You’re Slippery Skye, my Flying Fish.” But then he shook his head sadly. “I did try once –I can’t. It was right after I nicknamed you, actually. I was sitting in the den with Mom and thinking about you and all of a sudden I started feeling a little jealous. So, I got it in my head that I should be able to fly too and snuck outside and climbed up on this big rock. I took a flying leap and, well, that was when I found out I couldn’t fly.”
Callyn awoke with a start. She hadn't realized she'd been sleeping so deeply. Why, anything could have snuck right past her and attacked those three pups sleeping in the den behind her! I. Am. Horrified. With. Myself. she thought, dropping each word like a stone in her brain. This is what comes of getting old. I'm no longer fit to be looking after puppies. Still inwardly berating herself, the black-tipped she-wolf rose to her feet and poked her nose in the den to see what all the commotion was about. The half-grown pups were sprawled across the den, taking up much more room than the den had to offer. Callyn could only imagine how Nico, Skye, Traxx, and Comet and Cobalt all managed to fit in there. She saw that Tempest was awake and attempting to wake up the boys, but that the boys were proving rather difficult to wake, which was the cause of all the commotion.

(I keep forgetting to refresh before I post :/ Naw, not sappy, Hurri. Nomed's awesome And it's up to you, of course, but I think it would be cool if you brought Harek in. An interesting development to the plot, in any case ) Zakira's ears pinned as Nomed scowled and muttered something she couldn't quite make out. Clearly, he wasn't going to engage. She felt the silence building between them as they walked on, neither speaking. So it was warily that she glanced at him when he snorted suddenly and raised his head to sniff at the air, announcing that he was going to look for something to eat and to meet him back at the den. He trotted off without waiting for, or obviously, expecting, a reply. Zakira watched him go, her fury mounting by the second. Who did he think he was to blow her off, then decide he needed some time to settle down, and order her to meet him at the den?! She took orders from no one, and certainly not Nomed! She wasn't some toy for him to take out and play with, then put away again when she offended him. Nomed could take his haughty orders and stuff them. She would do what she liked. She snarled, her shoulders stiff, hackles bristling, and stalked off in the opposite direction. She didn't know where she would go. Anywhere but the den. And that just riled her up further, because her cave had been her retreat, her safe zone. And now she'd shared it with Nomed and she had nowhere to retreat from him.

(Lol I typed that whole freakin thing on my Touch. X| jeeesuuuum. O.o Yeah, I think I will pull her in, just cuz she deserves to be more advanced than a name and a story. She's gotta crappy one enough, as is. Poor Zakira. Nomed's just a jerkfaced butt, huh honey?? ^.^') Nomed continued moving backwards, pulling the deer with him towards his den. He didn't know what he was going to say, or do, when he saw Zakira, who was probably still steaming at him and cursing his name from dawn till dusk. It didn't even occur to him she might not actually listen, so when he slid into the den and didn't smell her fresh scent nor see any sign of her, the deer carcass dropped straight out of his now open mouth. With a startled yelp, he darted around the den frantically, searching even under pebbles for any sign a creature might've taken her or where she might've gone. Upon finding nothing, he let out a nervous barking howl and bolted from the den with wide green eyes. The chain around his neck jangled obnoxiously as he forsook quiet tredding and went for full-out bolting around. His ears never stayed in one place; in fact, they were blurs as they flicked to and fro frantically. A keening whine bubbled in his throat as he moved like lightning, the cuffs around his paws flashing demonically in the light, merging his legs with each other in a blur of black and silver. His tail was straight out like a flag, and his hackles doubled his size. If anyone had hurt his mate . . . "ZAKIRA!!!!![/i]" (Aaaand, he's a sap. X) )

(Lol, it's fine, Icer, really. Sorry, Maya.) Murtagh stood with a stretch and did a weird little bounce into the air, suddenly full of...energy. He smiled at Raiya. "Lets go do something productive!" He said with a cheerful grin. He knew Raiya was probably wondering "what was up with him??" but he didn't care. He chuckled brightly and poinced on her, then back-tracked quickly and darted into a pile of... Thorn bushes. Ouch. There was a strangled yelp and then Murtagh appeared out of the bushes, thorns sticking his grey coat everywhere. "Uhh... Honey, I could use some help.." He stiffly padded over to her and lay down, beginning to attempt to ter the tiny pricklry thorns from his paws. Tempest rolled her eyes, sitting down. Just like his brother then. She thought as the pup made a useless attempt to wake up. He didn't seem to realize that it was her standing over him, trying to rouse him. She cocked at him when he sat up, but his eyes were still closed. Then he seemed to realize something and his eyes flew open, sending him flying backward and making some weird yelling noise. She watched him, wondering if all this was still not going to wake him. She glanced toward the snoring Comet and found herself wishing that they would wake up. Now. She was bored. She looked back to Cobalt, who was laying on the griund lookig up at her. "Good morning?!?!" She asked increduously. "It took you a morning to wake up!!" She giggled. "It's noon now you goofy furball." She teased. "But anyway, I want to hunt." She announced. "We will ask my mom of course, but even if she says no, it wont stop me. You wanna come? Comet too, if we can wake his lazy butt up." And with that, the multi-colored pup gave a startled yelp in his sleep and leapt a few feet into the air. "Whaaaa?"

The small white wolf trotted swiftly through the territory, emerald eyes glancing down quickly at the doggish figure trotting along side her, though it was much smaller and every now and then it would race way ahead of her and then she would have to call it back...like it was doing now. "Sawyer!" Ana called gently. "Sawyer, don't get too far ahead... okay sweetie?" She was sort of distracted with the anticipation welling up inside her upon seeing her mate again... Brigan.. She thought of how much she had to tell him, what had happened. And Joshua... her baby. She knew they were close. They were in the territory, though they were sort of far out. Not yet in the clearing. And that was when she had to find Brigan and Joshua. Distracted by all of this, she hadn't been remembering to keep looking for Sawyer as the young pup ran forward and backward, left and right, brown eyes brimming with excitement. In a hurry, Ana looked around her. Sawyer was no where. "Sawyer?" She called out, a touch of worry in her voice before it flooded when no answer sounded. "Sawyer?!" She called again, this time, worry was brimming up to the edge. To Ana's prayers and relief, the little pup giggled and slipped out from under a large bush, and triumphant grin on her face. "Sawyer!" Ana scolded, stalking over to the pup. She wasn't the best one for discipline, so all she really did, was scold the pup, then gently pat the edge of Sawyer's black nose with her paw. And soon they were on their way again. To see Brigan and Joshua...

Raiya tilted her head curiously at Murtaghs energy. Then he limped back to her with thorns in his coat. "You really need to be more careful honey." She teased and gently started removing the thorns.

"Ouch!" Murtagh complained as Raiya started helping him. He began to wiggle unnescesarilly. "You're hurting me!" He squeeled like a pul, trying to stay calm but eiggle at the same time, which was difficult. He tried to cslm himsf by trying to remove thorns from both of his front pads again, but yelped and jumped every once in a while.

Maya sighed dramatically. "It will hurt even more if they stay in." She bent her head back down and removed some more thorns. A little more carefully this time.

(Lol, you know what, I’m not even going to argue anymore, Hurri XD) Furious once again with her mate and having no one and nothing to vent her fury on, Zakira looked for another way to spite Nomed, aside from disregarding his command to meet him at the den. He’d been going out in search of food for them –Zakira immediately resolved to hunt for herself. She didn’t need him. Even carrying puppies, she could take care of herself. She killed a pair of grouse, took her customary drink from both their slender necks, and wolfed them down, feeling savagely pleased that she could now refuse to eat whatever Nomed dragged back for her. When she finished with the birds’ carcasses, she left them laying there and started for the den. Because it was on her terms now, when she was ready, and not just because her mate had told her to. Just remembering it made her bristle all over again. She paused suddenly, midstep, as she heard Nomed give a short, panicked howl. Before she had time to decipher what it meant, she heard him again, this time bellowing her name. Her eyes narrowed. Expect me to go when you say go and come when you say come, do you? She had half a mind to turn right around again and walk in the opposite direction. But neither was she going to let him keep chasing her away from her cave. She’d decided to go home, so home she was going. She crossed the stream silently a little further down from her cave, and found Nomed not far from it, darting madly to and fro, his chain swinging, jangling, around his neck, green eyes wide, something like a whine beginning to sound in his throat. She watched him for a minute, nothing showing in her grey eyes. “Nomed.” Her musical voice was as cold as it had ever been before she’d fallen in love.
When Callyn had determined that the pups were all fine, and just rough-housing the way pups will, she padded back to lay down again. Her mismatched eyes didn’t close this time, however. She wasn’t tired; on the contrary, she’d slept very restfully. She was just bone-weary. From here, she could keep an eye on what was going on without having to move around a whole lot.
After the hunting lesson, Brigan had been going to take Joshua home, but she wheedled him into taking a detour to the stream again. As he watched her peer into the muddy depths, he wondered to himself again how a daughter of his could be so fascinated by the water. Joshua leaned over and dipped a paw in, then squealed and giggled at how cold it was. She glanced back at her father. “Daddy, what are those little wiggly things in the water?” Brigan edged closer and took a look. “Looks like fish, baby girl.” “Catch me a fish, Daddy!” Joshua begged excitedly. Brigan made a face. Now look what you’ve done, he told himself sternly, and was reminded suddenly of once upon a time when he would’ve been answered. Funny how he hadn’t thought of that in a while. He refocused on Joshua. “Daddy doesn’t like the water,” he said. “It scared me really bad once, a long time ago.” Joshua looked surprised. She’d never thought of the water as something scary. “Oh. That’s okay, then. I’ll catch a fishy.” And she wiggled her hindquarters and pounced in the shallow water, sending little silver minnows scattering in all directions from her feet.
