(Haha okay. *Disclaimer of sorts : This is gonna be a vent post, so Nomed's gonna kinda spaz at the world right now. Reason being, my sweet baby who's made me smile in the worst of times told me I deserve better than him and that I should find someone more suited to loving me the way I should be. Just because he lives far away and we never get to see each other, like ever, and apparently some bad people are after him and know about me and he's worried about my safety . . . He can't associate with me because he's trying to make it seem like I was nothing more than a fling. Hence, the loss of Nomed's sanity, as with mine.) The massive black male whirled as he heard his name and almost tackled the infuriatingly incredible she-wolf before him. At the last moment, he looped around in the tightest circle possible, remembering she was pregnant and he didn't want to hurt his or her pups. As it was, however, he was certainly contemplating tearing into her verbally. His pelt was bushed out like a cat's when they got scared, and his ears were buried deep with his once-plushy fur. The whine changed to a low snarl and he snapped his teeth at her rump as he continued his pacing circle. "Do you . . ." He stopped when the growl overtook his voice and stood in front of her, green eyes black as the night he possessed. His lips seemed to be permanently curled up to flash his teeth, and nothing rested in his normally expressive-for-her eyes. He snorted violently, seeming to try to calm himself down enough to speak. "Do you even realize how scared you made me, Zakira??" The way he spoke her name was like an icy threat, with even less emotion than his eyes. "Do you ever think about anyone besides yourself?? I told you to come to the den because I had to go hunt and I cared enough about you and the pups that I figured of you went to the den, then you'd be safe. I figured nothing would attack a den, not with a wolf inside and certainly not with another scent floating around. So, what happens after I kill a meal just for you and lap at the blood like you do and drag it all the way home, not using my powers because you don't like them?? I walk in and see no one. Not even a scrap of fur laying on the ground. No fresh pawprints, no fresh scent, no sign of struggle . . . So I look around to ensure you weren't just being a pup and hiding from me, then go out to search for you, terrified out of my mind that I made the worst decision of my life and that I just lost the only thing that was ever actually important to me. And, shocker here folks, it turns out she was just acting like a pup and going off on her own because I phrased my words wrong and made my request seem like a command. Hmm, I wonder what happens now??" He paused then, cocking his head and looking up towards the sky mockingly. His eyes were hard as black diamonds and cold as his heart felt at that moment. He tapped his paw in a condescending manner, acting as though she truly was nothing more than a pup and he had to be the adult to put the unruly youngster in its place. Finally, he gave a cold, dark laugh that seemed to be darkness itself. His eyes directed themself onto her once more, and his lips curled up once more. "I know," he said calmly, a sneer sneaking into his final syllable before he banished it. "If you wish to act like a pup, Zakira, we can treat you like a pup." He grabbed her neck roughly and tugged her into the den, where he released her and sat tall and hard as stone, unable to be moved. His eyes showed nothing of what he was thinking, nor did his ramrod straight posture. He watched for a few more moments before speaking once more. "Do you want to be done, Zakira??" His words were hollow, as though he expected the worst. "Have you discovered that you don't actually love me and therefore, don't want me around?? Is that it?? Is that why you pull such a, a sick move on me?? Because no wolf would do that to a wolf they loved. No wolf would-" He broke off as his voice came out strangled and bit it back with a snarl. Finally, some of the anger snuck into his eyes, covering up any hurt that tried to display itself, to show that he didn't mean all he was saying. Instead, he turned a gaze of black fire onto her. "What do you want, Zakira??"

Ana sighed. It was taking so long for them to get there. She was.. excited? Was that the right word? Her green eyes flickered down to Sawyer with worry. The pup was surely hungry and thirsty. They had been travelling for a few days after all. Ana had hunted, but she wasn't the most experienced hunter at all and was only able to provide small prey for her and her daughter. There was water in the forest but they were careful with it around the human's domain since it could be polluted. She gently bumped her daughter in the side, who yelped and let out a "hey" protest. "Hey, babe." Ana put on her best reassuring smile. "Cheer up. I've got a surprise for you." Ana didn't tell Sawyer where they were going nor who they were going to see. She wanted it to be a surprise just in case their journey was un-succesful. "Surprise?" Sawyer repeated the word in question form, her ears perking upright as she looked up at her mom. "Yes, surprise." Ana confirmed just as they reached the clearing where she saw wolves. She sighed and inhaled the scents around her, using what Brigan had taght her long ago; instincts. She needed to get her daughter some food and water... Water first. "C'mon, honey lets go get a drink." She suggested and led her to the stream. "Mama?" Sawyer peered up at Ana. This question had been running through her mind for quite a while now. "Why can't you catch me big prey? Like foxes and deer and stuff...?" She asked curiously. "Why only squirrels and hares?" She asked with her head cocked. Ana hesitated, emotion filling her eyes. "Well, sweetie...mommy doesn't know...how to catch big food... okay?" She hoped that that would be it and there would be no more questioning. Sawyer's mouther opened again, but luckily, that was when Ana spotted the stream. She paused and spoke quickly before Sawyer. "Look, baby girl, there's the stream!" She said cheerfully and started forward only to stop dead in her tracks, a choking, startled yelp come from her mouth, and eyes widen. It was because she saw who was at the stream. Brigan and Joshua.
Murtagh grunted and muttered something under his breath, glaring ahead of him. "Fine." He said grouchily. He continued to get the thorns out of his paws, then his tail. Once finished, he looked over to Raiya. "Is it good yet?" He asked impatiently.

"Wait one more." Raiya said and removed the last one. "Done. Your all better." She smiled and licked his nose.

Murtagh resisted the urge to groan and yelp again as she told him that there was yet another thorn. He let out a tiny yelp when she removed it however, though didn't complain that much. "Hmph." He said, watching her through narrowed green eyes as if to say; Say anything about my random hyper about-burst, and then humiliation and your ears get torn off. He knew he could never do that though, which he realized as soon as he sent her that look. "Anyway, what were we going to do just now?" He asked.

"Well you had an extreme energy burst then pounced on me then ran into the thorns." Raiya responded. "What was that about?"

If you looked hard enough at Murtagh's face, you could probably just barely see two large red splotches on either sides of his cheeks. He looked away for a moment, then, when he thought his blush was gone, he looked at Raia with a tony embarassed smile. "Well, I was...bored." He muttered defensively. "And still am. I wanna go for a dip in the lake. You?" He was already standing up and taking a few steps toward the lake though.

(Aww, I'm sorry, Hurri. And I'm sorry Zakira isn't the kind of wolf to share my sympathy ) Zakira flattened her ears in response to Nomed's fury. She turned in a slow circle to face him as he paced around her, her fangs bared. The big black male's lips were drawn back over his teeth, too, and his eyes were like those of a stranger's. This wolf was unrecognizable as her mate, and so when he snapped at her, her immediate reaction was to snap back. He snorted and when he finally spoke, it wasn't the words themselves she heard and reacted to as much as his tone. "How many times do I have to remind you, Nomed," she hissed. "That I don't need to be protected like one of those weak females you used to like to taunt? Nothing would dare attack me, because I will rip them to shreds if they do. If your request had been in the slightest way a reasonable one, I may have listened, despite the arrogance of its phrasing." Rage bubbled up inside her at being accused of acting like a pup. A pup. That was how he was choosing to see this? That she simply didn't like him bossing her around and threw a fit and hid on him? She seethed as he mocked her, the malicious bastard, but was totally unprepared when he lunged for her, gripping her scruff in his teeth and dragging her into the den. The instant he released her, she whirled on him with a vicious snarl and tore open his shoulder. Ironically, it was the same one she'd bitten on the day she tried to kill him. Nomed sat, watching her, but Zakira was now beyond enraged. Her tail lashed against the backs of her legs, the dark fur on her ruff and shoulders stood on end, her ears hadn't stood up since the first word out of Nomed's mouth, and her eyes were like chips of furious grey granite. How dare he touch her, manhandle her about, that way? Did he think he had something to prove, by demonstrating how much stronger he was? Maybe he thought that because he was the only wolf she'd ever met that she couldn't kill meant that he in some way had dominion over her, that he could force her to bend to his will. He was sadly mistaken. She was done allowing others to control her. And he had been the one who'd opened her eyes to that, or didn't he remember? So incensed was she that his final speech fell on deaf ears. She picked out only one or two words that stood out to her. "Done, Nomed? Is that what you want?" she snarled, her tongue flicking between her teeth in her fury. "So be it." Blood boiling, she shoved past him and stalked off into the night. "Careful, Joshua!" Brigan cautioned, as his daughter ventured further into the water. "You're giving Daddy a heart attack, why don't you come back this way?" Joshua reluctantly returned to the bank and Brigan bent down to give her wet fur an affectionate lick. "That's my girl." A choked yelp sounded from behind him and he froze. That voice! He was imagining things, he had to be. It wasn't possible! He spun around and there she was. Ana. Her long white fur was slightly ruffled, the way she hated it and was always stopping to smooth out, and her beautiful emerald green eyes were fastened on him. A little shepherd-looking puppy trotted at her side, and it took Brigan a moment to recognize Sawyer, though he knew it had to be her. She'd grown so much. Brigan couldn't breathe. Of all the things in his life that he'd loved and had to let go of, none had ever come back to him. Until now. "Ana," he said. Then louder, "Ana!" He ran to her, afraid that he was dreaming and needing to touch her to reassure himself he wasn't. But at the last minute, he pulled up short, a mere couple steps from his long-lost mate, and was suddenly afraid for exactly the opposite reason: that if he touched her, she might fade away and he'd find himself waking up from a dream anyway. Frowning in confusion at her father's sudden lapse into insanity, Joshua came out of the water and trotted after him. Her muddy-blue gaze that hadn't yet resolved into its adult eye color focused on the pretty white she-wolf and the puppy at her side and her frown deepened. A memory tugged at her.

Raiya shrugged. "Okay." She bounded into the lake. "Come on slowpoke!" She teased lovingly. She splashed around in the water for a little bit before she had to get out. She lied down on the beach and put her head on her paws to stop the dizzyness. She sighed. She couldnt hide much longer. He would find out sooner or later. "Murtagh." She called to him.
Edit: Everything after She teased lovingly.

(Eh, its okay. I know Zakira is a snappy little bugger; I as did Nomed learned that the first day they got together. He's just a royal ass and needs to grow up. Its a shame that he had such a rough puphood though; maybe he'd feel she could protect herself if Guana / Fuco could've. *shrug* The world may never know.) Nomed felt somewhat satisified with his speech, watching her reaction with boredom, right up to the point where she lunged and tore open his shoulder. The same one she tore into the day they first met. And it was then he knew what she was going to do. He knew then that she had been waiting for the perfect moment to do this, but hadn't had a chance since she was carrying his pups. The feeling of betrayal, of something near hatred yet that never could be, bubbled deep within his core. His eyes were worse than black diamond; now, they were black holes. Never again would they show emotion, not to her, not to anyone. Never again would he show anything for anyone. Something incredibly powerful would have to be put in his path to move him back into a wolf. For now, he was living up to his namesake. For the first time, he thanked Huckel; in his effort to make his pups suffer, he gave his little pipsqueak son a name that would later equal the same things he would do. He didn't even watch as she walked out of the den, didn't even bother to see if she was still walking, didn't even bother to move from his perch. What he did do, however, was leave the den and climb to the upmost point he could reach. He gazed unseeing for a while before tossing back his head. The howl that floated from his throat was baleful, dark, destructive, emotionless. It was not a called message, nor a call for a wolf to come. It was more to strike fear and set a warning into place : bother me and die. The sound echoed around the forest for a while, but he was gone, dusted away by the comfort of the sweet darkness that always took such good care of him. The real Nomed was back, and he was ready to wreak a hellwrath of his own sweet doings on the poor, unsuspecting pack that dared allow him into their midsts. Time to do the only thing he was good at. He wasn't good at love or a family; clearly, as he just lost everything. He wasn't making that mistake twice. No no no, he was his own worst enemy now. (Yes, its a little dramatic, but it also sets the stage for Harek's entrance. I'm typing up her bio; should have her here soon, but we'll see how things here go.)

Raiya lifted her head up as a dark and emotionless howl echoed through the forest. "Murtagh..." She got up and hudled near him. She knew she looked seriously weak, but she had many big things on her mind.

Ana was still sort of dazed and confused upon seeing Brigan and Joshua that she didn't even notice when he said her name, then started to run toward her, then stopped. And when she finally blinked and it didn't all go away, she noticed that he had saw her and was now a few steps away from her... and looking at her. Joshua came up as well. A tiny smile threatened her lips, but she held it back, looking dazed and confused at first, then it appeared and she took the few steps forward to meet her mate's muzzle, lick it about fifteen times, then nuzzle him lovingly. "Brigan..." She murmered. "Brigan, it's me, Ana..." She didn't know why she was telling him this. He reconized her... She was mostly just trying to convince herself of it. "I'm home." She murmered at last. Sawyer curiously looked at her mother as she reunited with the male that was only vaguely reconizable. She watched him for a moment, then peered at the puppy beside Brigan and her eyes flickered in surprise. She reconized both of these wolves...but who were they? Her gaze fastened on the pup beside the male that her mother was with and she cocked her head and her half-cocked ears flopped sideways. "Who're you?" She asked boldly.
Murtagh chuckled light-heartedly and pranced after her into the lake, doing a weird skip into the water. He waded around for not long, then watched with a worried look as Raiya got out of the water and lay down, then called him moments later. He padded up to her. "What's up?" He asked, head cocked.

"Okay. Please dont flip, but I'm pregnant." Raiya said and searched Murtaghs eyes for any signs of... anything really. Surprise, joy, anger, confused. Something.

Please don't flip, but I'm pregnant. The words flip-flopped someway into his head and he felt kind of confused at first. His eyes blinked a few times as he tried to regain focus. "Oh, erm, sorry I was just thinking." He apologized to her with a lick to her ear. "That's really great, honey." He said with a smile. He couldn't tell his own mood right now. Whether he was excited, or nervous, or what. He continued to smile at her, then stood. "Are you hungry? Thirsty? Wecould stop by the stream and get a drink or I could go get you something." He tried not to think of how he was acting; odd. He was almost taking on the responsibilities of a pregnant's she's mate too soon. Raiya could still do things on her own... He shrugged and looked at her, tryng to break from all the confusion he was having with his mood. (I got a pic. I'll message you.)

Odeta's wet ears flung forward as a dark howl bounced through the forest. Her ears pinned and a name suddenly appeared in her mind. Nomed. The howl was something like she had never heard before. She felt a pang of worry for his mate, wondering what could have happened. But she then shook her head and snorted. That female looked more than capable of taking care of herself. She got out of the river that she had fallen in, and shook out her amber coat. (Just a'wondering: Where did Barak go?)

(He's somewhere, supposed to be talking to Traxx / Sol-Leks and trying to repair their bond, but I don't believe DragonTearz ever responded to my last post. I'll go check again . . . ^.^') The white shape drifted across the ground, seeming to float as her paws moved with a newfound speed. She didn't stop for a moment as her nose carried her more than her paws. Her almost clear eyes sparkled like diamonds; she could barely contain her excitement. Everything was happening just like she'd hoped it would : finding her family, being with him, maybe even finding love again. A white feather lodged behind her ear, the last symbol she had been destined to be alpha, fluttered away in the breeze of her run but she didn't care. Didn't bother to turn around, not now when he was so close . . . The black shape came into view, stalking angrily, and she let out a shrieked squeak before lunging forward and tackling the male to the ground. Only she could've done so, surprise him so much and be able to force him off his paws, because she knew his weaknesses. She covered his face in licks, tail wagging in wide circles, whining and yipping softly like they did when they were pups. He laid still underneath her, eyes wide, not daring to move a single millimeter. When she finally released his head, he turned slowly to look at her. "H-Harek??" he murmured. She giggled and smiled at him. "The one and only," she purred.

Brigan probably have stood there for much longer, if Ana hadn’t closed the final step between them and convinced him once and for all that this was real, that he wasn’t asleep, that she was really home. “How-? Where did you go?” he gasped, burying his muzzle deep in the fluffy white fur of her neck, inhaling her soft, familiar scent. “I came home that day and you were just gone… What happened?”
Joshua glanced between Brigan and the soft-spoken white she-wolf with the oh-so-familiar voice and scent that she just couldn’t place. The memory was nagging at her like a pesky bumblebee that just wouldn’t buzz off… She felt almost guilty, like she should remember, but just couldn’t. Her eyes flicked to the other puppy as she spoke. She was smaller than Kavik, which meant about the same size as her. “Joshua,” she replied slowly, unconsciously mirroring her sister’s little tilt of the head, as she tried to puzzle out who these wolves were. “Who’re you?”
Zakira hadn’t been thinking when she’d stormed out into the night, leaving her cave and Nomed behind. She’d been enraged to the point of literally seeing red –a curious phenomenon that she’d never actually experienced before. When her anger cooled some, and thoughts began to return, she realized she had no home to go back to. The cave was out of the question. She would never go back to it now. What had once been a safe, dark refuge was now another place to escape, full of light and memories and foolish, empty dreams. She walked until she came upon the blackened stump of an oak that had been struck by lightning. There was a hole at its base, widening into a small space inside that was just big enough for her to duck through and curl up in. Lying there, her emotions shut firmly down, her belly round with Nomed’s puppies and her shoulder sticky with his blood where she’d brushed against him on her way out, she listened to the dark, sinister howl that rang out eerily into the black air. And she thought how inconvenient it was that they couldn’t have recognized their doomed relationship before she got pregnant. She was an Avenger, always would be. She’d been a fool to think she could change, to think she could have a family. She didn’t need Nomed, didn’t need him to take care of her. And she could care for these pups on her own, too. But “Avenger” and “mother” were an oxymoron. In the same way she’d told Nomed she would kill him if he ever hurt their pups, she’d expected he would do the same for her. Now she could no longer rely on him for that.

"Soo, have you done anything useful??" she asked, eyes bright and panting slightly from spewing her day-be-day, play-by-play life story since he'd gone. Nomed's eyes were still wide as he tried to comprehend everything she'd just said, but he was still a hundred words behind. Finally, he gave up with a chuckle, figuring he at lest understood the gist. "What would be considered useful to you??" he asked, amused. Harek's bright blue eyes sparkled as she gazed at him with a romantic gleam. "You know, find a mate, have pups, make a life for yourself," she replied in a happy purr. At the word "mate", Nomed shut down completely, alarming her. She stepped forward, nosing him gently. "No??" she asked softly, using the pet name she and Guana had given him when they were pups. That succeeded in breaking his rough exterior, and he gave her a small reassuring smile. "I . . . I did find a mate," he started, but was interrupted by her squealing like a frightened boar. She jumped up and down and all around, tail spinning in happy wags. "Oh goody, I knew you would, I knew it!" she bubbled, finally stopping her leaping to ask "where is she?? Can I meet her?? Where's the wolf who changed my brother??" "She's gone," he blurted as she started another wave of squeals and leaps. She froze mid leap, landing hard on her paws but not seeming to notice as she stared in total shock at him, then her gaze softened to one of sympathetic love. "Oh, No," she murmured, stepping closer and licking his ears gently. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't . . . I didn't know, and didn't mean to bring her up. Did you know her for long??" Nomed looked away from his sister with flat ears. "She left me." He ignored her gasp of horror. "We had an argument, and I told her to meet me at the den while I went hunting, and she blatantly ignored me and terrified me, so when she returned I . . ." He sighed wearily. "I snapped at her and said some unnecessary things; I called her a pup and dragged her into the den like a bad pup in need of a timeout, and then asked her if she wanted to be done. She stormed out, so I knew it had been just a matter of time before she left me." He glanced ruefully at his shoulder. "This was the shoulder she tore into when we first met." He stared at the blood still oozing slowly from the open slice, not bothering to stop it or clean it. "I knew it then. Good things never last. If you want something, you have to take it, and happiness must be earned, not given." Harek's eyes widened and darkened with each sentence he uttered until she finally saw his shoulder. Her eyes became pits on blackness, with the faintest tinge of blue to remind anyone what the color was. "That little. . ." Her words were drowned out by her own snarl as she darted off, grabbing herbs and cobwebs for him. (Here's the protective, motherly side.) Each snarl was low and precise, each word clipped and short, as she gave him orders to help tend his wound, since she knew he wouldn't do it on his own. She finally fixed it up to the best of her ability and sat back, taking deep breaths and forcing her eyes back to normal. "No," she said calmly. "Who is this she-wolf??" But he shook his head before she even finished. "I'm not letting you 'take care of' my mate, Harek. No matter what happens, I do love her and she is carrying my pups." Harek smirked. "I have pups too; I can afford to give some milk to hungry mouths." But her words were empty; she knew all too well what he meant about love. She sighed and brushed her nose against his. "Just sleep and let it heal." Without a word, Nomed turned and bunched his muscles to leap into a tree, but found himself staggering off balance, his shoulder burning. Snarling, he shook his head sharply and went to try again, but Harek rested her tail on his back, stopping him as she pulled him slowly back towards a small group of bushes. She nosed him inside and laid down behind him, resting her head on his back and humming until he drifted off into a fitful sleep. Harek watched him sadly, ears drooping and eyes pained. May the deities help the she-wolf who dared hurt her brother, her only family; now she was on the list of an angry, ornery ex-alpha she-wolf.

"I know, I know..." Ana murmered softly, tears brimming the edges of her emerald eyes. She couldn't hold it any longer. Tears burst from her eyes, soaking into Brigan's fur as she sobbed softly. "I... I..." She tried. "I missed you so much". Was all she could get out. She continued to sob gently until finally her eyes widened and she blinked a few times, trying to blink away the tears. She took a step back so that she could focus on Brigan. "It'll take a long time to explain..." She murmered softly. "Can we go back to the den?" She glanced at the puppies and her eyes seemed to smile upon seeing them interacting together. My babies... "Joshua?" Sawyer repeated in question, head still cocked. "Hmm, I'm Sawyer." She replied with a smile and her mouth opened again just as Ana now looked toward them, stepped over and asked Sawyer if she could talk to Joshua for a minute. Sawyer just shrugged and stepped aside, where Ana was, looking up at the male that her mother had just been with in confusion. "So who're you?" She asked, lifting her muzzle up to sniff him. (sorry, WB)
Murtagh let a slow sheepish grin appear on his face and he nodded. "Sorry, honey.. I guess I'm just a little...nervous?" He shrugged and nuzzled her, then lay down beside her. "It's kind of weird...I wish my parents were alive so that they would get to experience this. Being a grandparent. I wa their only puppy and they weren't around for long..." He murmered, watching the sky above them.
