Despite her minor annoyance at Nomed’s fretting, Zakira couldn’t help the smile that crossed her muzzle at his murmured comment. Yes, the bird was obviously lacking in the brain department to have dared try to steal from her, and it had paid for it. She glanced at Nomed as he semi-apologized for getting upset over her scratches. She shrugged. She was growing used to it. She’d even expected it this time when she’d come home. And, she supposed pragmatically, in the strange way of relationships, the first time he quit caring enough to ask her if she was alright, she was going to miss it. “Oh well,” she said. “Nothing you can do about what you can’t help.” He nuzzled her, a more playful tone to his touch, and she snapped back lightly, taking his chain in her teeth and uttering a soft growl. She tugged on it. “You get over there and eat your rabbit,” she said in a mock stern voice. “Put some meat on those skinny bones. I want you to start looking like yourself in a matter of days now that I’m back to make sure the hunting is getting done around here.”

Nomed chuckled as she grabbed his chin in her muzzle and tugged on it gently. Then she snapped at him to go eat his rabbit. With another chuckle, he stood and padded to the rabbit. He picked one up and placed it by Harek's bed, then retreated to his own bed with the other. He laid down in front of Zakira and tucked in. He easily finished all but a leg, which he placed in front of her. "Eat up," he said gently, standing to curl back around her on the bed. He settled in beside her, tucking around her neatly and resting his head beside her paws. "I mean it."

(Oohh.. so sad. *hugs a crying Summer*)
Angel suddenly stopped at the chorus of mournful howls that echoed around the territory, and her ears folded down. She knew what it was like. Turning back towards the territory, her heart cracked. She knew what it was like to have lost her parents. Well, her father at least. She couldn't bare it any longer, and the black furred she shot back towards the territory.
She dodged tree after tree, and had nearly made it until she tripped over at tree root, with a loud thud, and a loud whimper. Only just able to pull herself up, she released she couldn't run, and she was along way from home. With a sigh, she threw her head back, and howled back to the ones who were howling, a howl full of sympathy, sorrow and, most importantly, a message to remind them to think of all the good times together with the ones who had passed on to the wolf heaven in the sky.

Sol-Leks flicked her ears to the howls she heard and stopped dead in her tracks. She turned and loped to Dakota and Essence's den. The now grown pups where digging outside. She walked by the pups and saw her old friends. They looked at peace, she turned and begun to help dig. She looked at the three youngsters and couldn't help smiling. She had been gone for a while and they had grown so much.

Tratto stopped his mournful howl as Sol Leks appeared, her kind face curiously watching him and his siblings. He snuffed unhappily and slunk forward, his ears flat and his body low. He had also heard a howl far of, one that was sad, sorrowful. He nudged Sol Lek's in her shoulder weakly, searching for comfort. He was nearly full grown, wth his proportions no longer awkard, and him being nearly filled out. But as the sadness gripped him, he reverted to his pup ways and seeked the comfort of a mother. He whined and began to dig along side the she wolves.

Ipa uncurled herself and helped to dig.
Once the hole was largeenough, Khaz padded back to the den and looked at his parents sorrowfully. He really hated to move them, but he had to. He gently gabbed his fathers scruff and dragged him outside to the hole. He gingerly lay him down, then padded inside for his mother.

Sol-Leks sat down beside Tratto after digging the hole. She reassuringly touched his shoulder. She bowed her head as Dakota and Essence were put into the ground. She would miss her friends terribly. She looked at the youngsters, "I know you three are grown, but if you would like to, you can stay with me and Kavik for a couple of nights. Our den is large enough." she said.
Kavik looked at Brigan, "Yeah I ran off. I think she is used to it now and besides, she knows where I usually go. I hope Joshua and her sister get well soon." he said and turned to go find his mother.

Ipa had helped Khaz with their mother. And she arranged them just like they were when they died. She nodded to Sol-Leks. "Thank you." She sniffled. She licked her parents fur one last time and inhaled their scent. Which still lingered, although the scent of death was also on their fur.

Laredo whimpered and nodded. "I'll be okay. I met Zakira and Nomed." he said, drooping his ears. He smiled a little at Traxx. The black and red she was kind of cute, even with all the scars.

Tanek awoke to many sad howls. He padded out of his little bed area and shook his fur. Then his stomach growled. He hadent yet met the alpha and he didnt want to get in trouble for hunting in a packs territiry when he wasnt part of the pack. So, he ventured back across the border. He stalked a hare and two squirrls, and ate hapily. When he was done he crossed the border back into the territory and found a stream. He drunk some water from the middle where the water was fast flowing and ice couldnt form. Then he at down on the bank and let the snow cool his stomach.

A stubborn look settled over Zakira’s masked face. She shook her head, shoving the leg back at him. Mean it or not, Nomed was losing this battle. Not that he ever won the others, unless she let him. “I ate the vulture,” she said firmly. “And that hare isn’t as big as I would’ve liked it to have been. I want you to eat it. All of it.” She’d seen how easily he put away all but the leg; she guessed he could probably have eaten Harek’s dinner too, and still not been entirely satisfied. She cursed herself for not going after something bigger, especially since she’d wanted to and hadn’t so to get back to her pups sooner. She wanted to see Nomed back to full strength, and he wasn’t going to get there any time soon if he kept rationing himself to half and three-quarter portions to share with her.
Nico winced in sympathy, his ears laying flat along his head for a moment. “Ooh, yeah, that’s rough,” he said, nodding. “Definitely not the first wolves you want to meet upon entering a new territory. But hey, look at the bright side!” he said, perking up. A tongue-lolling grin split his muzzle. “At least you’re not dead. I mean, I heard Zakira actually killed the last wolf who wandered into her den. Count yourself lucky, huh?”
An involuntary smile of amusement crossed Brigan’s face as he shook his head and returned to Ana and the girls. He sat down beside his mate. “That was Kavik,” he said. “Sol-Leks’ son. He’s a very good friend of Joshua’s. She’s spent a lot of time with him since you and Sawyer…” Changing his mind about bringing that up again, he went on. “He’s a good pup, for the most part. One of the most independent I’ve ever seen. He’s always running off without Sol-Leks. She usually knows to look for him here.”
Freya returned with her jaws full of herbs she needed for Joshua and Sawyer. She paused politely outside the den so as not to simply barge in, then entered. She set down her supplies, and smiled at the wolfdog and his pretty, young mate. “Not too difficult,” she remarked lightly. She turned kind green eyes on the puppies lying in a tumble together, both awake now. “Hello there,” she said, to put them at ease. “How are you feeling?” Joshua looked over the gentle old wolf appraisingly, then answered her. “Not too good. Daddy says me and Sawyer are sick.” Freya smiled. “Well, I’m here to make you feel better.” Brigan stood to walk over and sniff curiously at what looked to him like a random tangle of pine needles, bark, and roots. “What is this?” he asked the healer. Freya turned to him inquiringly. “Oh, the herbs? Let me show you.” She separated two soft-needled branches of juniper and four small bits of borage root from the tangle and divided them between the two pups. “The juniper,” she told the listening parents. “Will help to ease their coughs. They’ll need to eat all the needles off that branch I gave them. The borage root is for the fever. It’s going to be a little tougher, so they’ll just need to chew at it.” Next, she pulled toward her the piece of bark that she’d dipped in maple sap. The sap had frozen on her way back to the den. Freya broke it off the bark in two pieces. “If the pups hold this in their mouths till it melts, it will sooth their sore throats. Honey is better,” she added regretfully. “But the syrup will do.” Brigan looked impressed. Joshua stared warily at the little pile of herbs sitting in front of her, but was distracted, and then entranced, by Freya’s voice as she explained how each herb helped. She glanced down at her medicine, then gingerly stripped the branch of juniper of its needles. They weren’t hard and they didn’t poke her tongue. She chewed them a little, then swallowed.

(Lol oh Nico. X) you always know what to say, don't you??) Nomed narrowed his eyes, about to protest her protest, then saw the look in her eyes. While he knew she wouldn't attack him the way she had That Inferior Male (since I can't remember if he introduced himself or not and am so out of it I'm not reading back ^.^'), he did know she'd make him suffer for it. With a sigh, he looked at the leg once more and pulled it close to his muzzle reluctantly to pack that away as well. He licked his lips, shoved the cleaned bones with his nose to prove he ate them, then settled back into his spot around her. He rested his head on one of her paws and watched their pups with a smile. They were so tiny and cute and . . . totally better than what he should have gotten. But, what was done was done, and he knew he'd love them forever and more.
Harek lifted her head and saw the hare. With a smile at Zakira, she pulled it close and tucked in, easily putting away most of it. However, being the already lithe female she was, the thought of eating the whole thing with or without pups did not sit well in her stomach. She stood and padded over, dropping the remaining bits by Nomed's nose. She had caught him trying to give his much needed food to Zakira and didn't like it one bit. Ocean blue eyes narrowed, she fixed him with a steady gaze. "Eat," she said in a commanding tone, allowing no room for arguement. But, in the of chance he was having a stupid day . . . "I'm going to go stretch my legs. That better be gone by the time I return." She turned and padded out the den, her soft white coat puffing out at the cold. She let out a small shiver and shook her hea before padding off. She followed the blood trail into the distance, where she saw the white male with two other wolves. A black and red female, and a tan (?) male. Ears pricked, she padded closer to catch the last shreds of conversation. Laredo grimly mentioned his encounter with Zakira and Nomed, and the other male sympathized by saying Zakira had killed a different wolf who entered her den. There was no doubt in her mind the dark she-wolf had done exactly what she was accused of, but her loyalty didn't lessen for a millisecond. However, the male was hurt and, while he had deserved it, the least she could do was try to help. Padding closer, ears drooped to show no harm, she peered at his wounds from a slight distance. She padded even closer, just enough to be noticed but not enough to elicit a threat. Blue eyes round, she cursed internally as sh figured most herbs she knew how to use would be dead by now. She needed more than her own limited knowledge, fueled only by her relationship with the last pack's wolves. "I suppose it serves you right for snarling at a den with pups, and then snapping something at her mate," she mused casually, looking over the wounds as she pondered what to do. "You should think before doing really anything like that. Especially around pups. Females are volatile at best with them around. I'm not saying you deserved it, but it wasn't unprovoked." She paused and scented the air. "Anyone know of herb combinations that aren't dead yet??"
The beige male opened his eyes as Odeta stood, chuckling as she shook snow onto him. He himself stood and shook back at her, lightly dusting her with white powder. He sat a small distance away, noting her uncomfortableness. "Do you remind why you sought me out now, my alpha??" he asked in his deep rumble, head cocked lightly as he watched her with his indigo eyes.

Odeta shook her head. "I was going to tell you to get your butt out of the snow and into a den taht I found, but the storm has stopped." The amber she wolf said and snorted.

With an annoyed and painful whimper, Angel limped back to her log den, quickly picking up and eating some pain killing herbs.
Feeling a bit better, she headed towards the river, still limping on her hind left leg slightly, and quickly took a drink, before noticing a male (Tanek) laid by the river. That caused the black pelted, golden eyed she to pause, amazed by the male, until she shook it out of her head, and approached him. 'Hi, im Angel' she said to him, speaking shylyy, as was the she wolf she was inside. Her injured leg still didn't touch the ground, but, she coped.

Tanek lifted his head. "Hello." He said and smiled. "I'm Tanek." He scratched his ear with his hind leg.

With Essence and Dakota in the ground, Sol-Leks threw her head back and unleashed a howl. It was long and mournful. Kavik heard his mothers' howl and ran as fast as he could to where she was.
Traxx snarled at Harek as she walked over. She was not in a very good mood anymore. She turned to Nico, "I'll be over there." she said and walked over to the den opening and laid down.

Ipa, not being able to speak or move, just curled up on the ground in a ball and began to wimper again.
Khaz looked at his parents one last time. They looked so peaceful lying there. With a heavy heart he turned toward the dirt pile he had made when digging the grave and pushed the dirt back into the hole. He moved with slow, plodding motions. His grief the same as Ipas but he managed to contain his a little better than his sister.

Barak chuckled, the deep sound rumbling from his chest. He looked at her, indigo eyes sparking mischievously. Hmm, what to do about this new discovery. Odeta didn't hate him, even after he'd mockingly called her sweetheart?? Or, at least, not enough that she wanted him to freeze. Maybe she just wanted to kill him herself, not actually allow him to die peacefully. "Oh, Odeta, does this mean you really don't hate me??" he teased gently, leaning closer slightly in a playful manner. Then his expression turned serious and his cocky grin dropped from his muzzle. He nosed her chin gently, in a way that was both respectful and sweet. "Thank you, Odeta, for caring." He then straightened and stretched low, his muscled shoulders bunching up and straightening out in the movement. He sat back on his haunches and gazed off into the forest, deep in thought. Finally looking back at her, his expression was neutral. "I meant what I said earlier, my alpha. I will stand by your side and fight for you. You have my word."

Odeta's amber tail wiggled slightly at the male nudging her chin. She snorted and growled slightly at the last comment the male made. "I can take care of myself." she said, her pride not allowing her to do anything less. She growled louder then, angry at herself for feeling guilty "But thank you." The last segment was said threw gritted teeth.
Tratto threw back his head and howled once more, for his parent and the end of the pup section of his life. He was truly alone now, save for his siblings, who as well needed to find mates. He nudged Sol Leks again, respectful and resigned then. "I very much appreciate your generous offer. I feel as if I would be intruding however."
Faolan wandered around, his stout figure struggling to get through all of the snow. He tried to start hunting, for he was starving but the snow proved to be too much of an obstacle. With an unhappy huff, the humble male sat in the snow and stared at the barrier in front of him

Ipa slowly uncurled herself. She blinked away tears and stumbled into the forest. The snow, she realized, had fallen thickly. And it took her a long time just to climb over one snowdrift. She was exausted and greif-striken, so she just lay where where she was and cried.
